The Years
Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux’s extraordinary 2008 novel, beautifully adapted for the stage by Eline Arbo, sold out in the Netherlands, then at the Almeida Theatre, delighting critics and gathering a bunch of five-star reviews in the UK. Together five of the UK’s finest female actors create an unforgiving, brave portrait of a woman born during the Second World War whose life shaped by a fast-changing world. Her story is shocking, intimate, sometimes violent and always gripping, containing violence, blood, and sexual content. As long as you’re OK with that, you can expect a painfully honest tour de force full of drama, delivering a genuinely mesmerising story.

Strong, Graphic & Informative The acting was great. The story was very good. It covered quite a long period of time. Some of the scenes were very graphic, wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 15/16

Moving and powerful Fantastic review of the feminine post-war experience. Moving and powerful rendition of Annie Ernaux’s work.

Amazingly moving but also funny at times Totally loved this play, all the cast were superb but Harmony Rose Bremner stood out ( albeit amongst giants ), her singing was beautiful and her acting so joyful.
We had bargain seats (£35) on the front row and missed some scenes that took place low on the floor (below our eye level), but in the main the seats were great and fantastic value. Amazing to be so close to the cast.
