Jamie Lloyd of the brilliant Jamie Lloyd Company directs. The amazing Emilia Clarke plays Nina. It's The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, a classic masterpiece that has been beautifully adapted by Anya Reiss to bring it steaming into the 21st century. This play explores the themes of tragedy, love, obsession, loneliness, jealousy and regret, and it is an awesome piece of theatre. Grab tickets for the play at the Playhouse Theatre and you'll fall truly, madly and deeply in love with a production that's widely predicted to sell out... completely! This is the second in the current Jamie Lloyd Playhouse Season, and it is not to be missed.
What's the plot? A young woman is desperate for fame, keen to escape from a boring, ordinary life. A young man dreams obsessively about the girl he loves. A successful writer doesn't feel fulfilled by his success and doesn't know why. And an actress doesn't want the times to change. When they come together in a remote rural home their dreams are destroyed, their hopes smashed and their hearts broken. And when it finally becomes clear that there's nowhere else to turn, they turn on each other. This marks Emilia Clarke's West End debut, and she's delighted to be playing Nina in Jamie Lloyd’s interpretation of The Seagull, a 'brilliant adaptation'. Will we see you there?
