In an exciting new announcement, The Jamie Lloyd Company has confirmed the Pinter at the Pinter season will carry on into summer 2019 with a particularly good Pinter classic, Betrayal. It stars the hugely popular British actor Tom Hiddleston, who portrays Robert, and it marks exactly forty years since the play had its premiere at London’s National Theatre. This is the fascinating tale of seven-year love affair between close friends, exploring the nature of human complexity shrewdly, with plenty of humour. And it is famous for its remarkable use of reverse chronology, taking us backwards from 1977 to the beginning of the story in 1968.
As you'd expect from Pinter, this magical play contains just as much that's un-said than said, which adds lots of extra piquancy to the plot. Tom Hiddleston comes fresh from a big stage success thanks to Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet, and his movie career includes Avengers: Infinity War and Thor: Ragnarok. TV's The Night Manager made him millions more fans, and he's an award winner as well, with a Golden Globe, Olivier and Evening Standard Award under his belt. This is the tenth anniversary of Pinter’s death, which makes its inclusion in the Jamie Lloyd Company season even more poignant. Betrayal marks a dazzling finale to a once-in-a-lifetime season. Grab tickets as soon as you can and Head for the Harold Pinter theatre for a strictly limited run.
