The Lover / The Collection
This is a unique theatrical event. It takes place at the Harold Pinter Theatre. It runs from 6th September 2018 to 23rd February 2019, celebrating one of the nation's best-loved and respected playwrights, Harold Pinter. The Lover, which was written in the early 1960s, offers both a serious and funny side, typical Pinter. You might experience it as an ironic comedy. You might feel it's a tense drama. Either way it'll rock your world. Are there really three characters at work here, a wife, husband and lover? Or are there only two? It's eccentric, comedic and like every Pinter play it's magically, caustically, wickedly clever.
The Collection was also penned in the early 1960s, and this one features four strong characters: James and Stella, Harry and Bill. It's another ambiguous piece, full of threat and danger against a backdrop that divides the action between a house in Belgravia and a flat in Chelsea, plus another strange space where nothing but telephone calls take place. Did Stella and Bill really have a one night stand while away on business in Leeds? Or did they just kiss a bit? There's only one way to find out...
