The new Sonia Friedman Productions series of plays called RE:EMERGE is tipped to be a three-play delight to remember, something seriously special. The three shows are all debuts, and they take place at the Harold Pinter Theatre from May 2021. Each play stars awesome talent, each story is uniquely thought-provoking, and the UK's theatrical entertainment sector is thrilled to bits to be able to entertain audiences once more. All this means there's a real treat in store!
J'Ouvert is an exceptional, unusual, powerful - a debut play by Yasmin Joseph, winner of a James Tait Black Award. It's also the directorial debut for Rebekah Murrell. Starring Annice Boparai, Gabrielle Brooks, Sapphire Joy and DJ Zuyane Russell, the play is set in Notting Hill, at the famous annual Carnival. This is Jade and Nadines' world, they're best friends, and J'Ouvert weaves a joyful, fearless story of the girls' determination to fight to save tradition in a world where women's bodies are constantly under threat. You'll remember this remarkable story for a long time to come.
